NEED HELP CHOOSING THE RIGHT MIXING HELIX?

Readtime 3 : Gerry Suckling : Feb 1, 2022
Why is it essential to use the correct mixing helix?

You’ll notice that every machine comes with two mixing paddles, and it is critical to use the correct helix to ensure you get your perfect pour consistently.

  • The small paddle, which is the 'half-batch' paddle
  • The large paddle, which is the 'full-batch' paddle

Problem One: Half-Batch Helix with a 5-6 Bag Mix

  • The upper level of the material (darker color) “drowning” the mixing paddle.
  • The material is poorly mixed due to the top layer suppressing the flow around the mixing chamber.
  • This material is beyond the flow movement of the mixing paddle. This material will not be mixed with the rest of the material.
  • Result: Full batch not mixed to specification and potential application failure.

Problem Two: Half-Batch Helix with a 5-6 Bag Mix

  • The material is thrown to the side of the canister by the “oversized.’ paddle
  • The material in direct contact with the mixing paddle will flow but will not blend with the rest of the poorly mixed material.
  • Result: Full batch not mixed to specification and potential application failure.
